Library Assistant (Bibliographic Services)

Maternity cover to 2nd March 2012
Appointment will be at LSE Salary Band 4, £23,154 to £26,045.

The library of the LSE (the British Library of Political and Economic Science) is one of the world's greatest social science collections, and serves a large and diverse community of students, academics and external researchers. We require a Library Assistant to work at the busy enquiry service, and to undertake acquisitions and bibliographic work in the Technical Services team.

At the enquiry points you will be helping users, and processing loans, returns, renewals and reservations. In Technical Services the duties include placing book orders; creating catalogue records for books and electronic material; cataloguing research papers in the LSE's research repository; processing incoming books, and liaising with book suppliers.

Previous experience in a busy library or customer service environment, and ability to work with office IT applications, are essential. Also essential is some experience of cataloguing and classifying resources in a library, archive or museum context.

Regular weekend and evening duties (to 8 pm), with time taken off in lieu are required.

To apply for this post, please go to www.lse.ac.uk/JobsatLSE and select "view the online recruitment system".
