Legal Research Assistants

We are a specialist high profile law firm, best known for our pre-eminence in Fraud, Anti-Money Laundering, Financial Regulation and Commercial Litigation involving fraud.

We are seeking two enthusiastic, academically gifted legal researchers to assist partners and fee-earners in all aspects of Fraud and Regulatory and Civil Fraud Litigation work, including client and non-client related matters. The successful candidates will assist in writing conference papers and articles, so previous experience would be advantageous.     

You will have an outstanding academic background (very good degree, GDL, LPC or BVC), excellent research, drafting and IT skills and ability to work under pressure in this challenging and exciting role. Knowledge of one or more European languages would be an advantage.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Bio-Informatics/Phylogenetics

Library Assistant (Bibliographic Services)

Appointment will be at LSE Salary Band 4, £23,154 to £26,045.

The library of the LSE (the British Library of Political and Economic Science) is one of the world's greatest social science collections, and serves a large and diverse community of students, academics and external researchers. We require a Library Assistant to work at the busy enquiry service, and to undertake acquisitions and bibliographic work in the Technical Services team.

At the enquiry points you will be helping users, and processing loans, returns, renewals and reservations. In Technical Services the duties include placing book orders; creating catalogue records for books and electronic material; cataloguing research papers in the LSE's research repository; processing incoming books, and liaising with book suppliers.

Previous experience in a busy library or customer service environment, and ability to work with office IT applications, are essential. Also essential is some experience of cataloguing and classifying resources in a library, archive or museum context.

Regular weekend and evening duties (to 8 pm), with time taken off in lieu are required.

Research Associate in Ismaili Studies

Full time permanent position

Salary range: c. £34,000 per annum, depending on experience

The Institute of Ismaili Studies has the object of promoting scholarship and learning of Muslim cultures and societies, historical as well as contemporary, and a better understanding of their relationship with other societies and faiths.

Your main responsibilities will be to undertake research as part of current and future projects related to Ismaili studies with a view towards preparing specific works for publication. Other duties include translating classical texts, preparing critical editions, organising academic projects (multi-author publications and conferences), and possibly also teaching at the Graduate Programme in Islamic Studies and Humanities of the IIS. You will also participate in all relevant meetings, workshops and conferences and in other related research at the IIS.

The position requires a PhD in Islamic Studies and preference will be given to candidates with specialisations in the following areas related to Ismaili history, theology, thought and other related topics and a strong publication record. An advanced knowledge and experience in working with classical Arabic and/or Persian texts is essential. The ideal candidate will also possess an excellent command of the English language and attention to detail. Start date negotiable.

Anthony Nolan operates the UK's largest stem cell register, matching volunteer  stem cell and cord blood donors with patients in need of life saving transplants. We are now seeking a new team member for our Cord Blood Centre.

We are now looking for 2 Laboratory Scientists on a fixed 1 year contract to join our team.  One position to cover Wednesday to Sunday; the other Thursday to Monday.   An initial training period will be required where the working hours will be Tuesday to Saturday.

You will be responsible for performing cord blood cell processing and testing for transplantation and other medical applications, using innovative production, testing and analysis techniques all within H&S guidelines.

You will have an Honours degree or equivalent in Biological Sciences or similar discipline. With a knowledge of immunology, transplantation and cell biology, you must be familiar with current analytical and storage techniques and able to troubleshoot problems as they arise. You should have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, and the energy, and enthusiasm to achieve high workloads and the ability to work weekends.

Line Manager: GuildHE Chief Executive

Job Purpose
To co-ordinate and manage general office and administrative support across the range of GuildHE activities, including for its sub-associations UKADIA and CREST.

Specific Responsibilities

To have day-to-day responsibilities for the full range of office management activities, including administrative support.To co-ordinate Members' Mailings, Council and Executive papers and other communications with GuildHE members.To maintain and update GuildHE information management systems including archiving, filling and other processes as appropriate. To be responsible for organisation and preparation of GuildHE events including the Annual Conference and CREST and UKADIA events as appropriate.To generate and maintain financial records on the SAGE system including banking, bank reconciliation, purchasing, invoicing and production of basic financial reports.To have day-to-day responsibility for office infrastructure and services - including liaison with Woburn House Facilities Manager, contract management of telecoms, IT and other arrangements.To monitor and co-ordinate staff availability - arranging team meetings, diarising holiday and leave time etc.To be responsible for 'front of house' activities at GuildHE (including incoming mail, telephone and electronic enquiries with assistance from all staff as appropriateTo manage GuildHE facilities and room bookings business, including liaison with clients, caterers, petty cash etc.To provide administrative support to the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive, Policy Officers and Media and Web officer and also for CREST and UKADIA activity as appropriate.To liaise with external personnel including members, senior management teams and key stakeholders as appropriate.
